SUPPORTING SACRED HEART SCHOOL, NAIVASHA, KENYA DREAM FOR SOMETHING BETTER
A dream for something better, Wangari Cecilia
Dispatch from Wangari:
“Dear Friends,
The Grace and the Love of God fill you and your families.
We are doing well, staying indoors 24/7 due to coronavirus. The situation in Kenya is getting worse as the virus is starting to spread to villages, having before been only in big towns. Life is very difficult for the poor, the jobless and the casual labourers, and many cannot even afford daily bread.
So thank you to all the supporters of KSCP from the depth of my heart. We might not know each one of you, but the power of your generosity is making a huge difference in our lives. Our children have been so touched by your love, and to be in solidarity with the suffering children who have nothing to eat, they have decided to fast each lunchtime, every day for two weeks. Then the fasted lunches will be given to the poor families around.
May God bless you abundantly during this difficult time.”

Esther’s Story
“Esther is one of our orphans who recently escaped from her guardian’s home. After her parents died in 2015, Esther and her five siblings were divided amongst their aunts and uncles, but the aunt did not care for her. In 2018, she was at a state school and her teacher noted that something was wrong. She was dirty, had no exercise books, and brought no packed lunch to school; she was withdrawn and cried most of the time.
Esther told her teacher what was happening and the teacher called me. Sacred Heart School took her in and she started to relax. Another aunt, however she said she would take her for school holidays. This time the husband of the aunt rejected her and said that he didn’t want her in the house; he mistreated her and even the other children and the family began abusing her. This was when she ran away to get back to the Sacred Heart School which she felt was the only home and refuge she had.
Thank you, dear friends, so much for your support to build this home and shelter for the destitute and orphans who need a home, love and care. God shield and protect you and your families.”
Tree planting
A major and ongoing piece of pandemic activity has been to plant hundreds of tree seedlings around the perimeter of the school site thanks to specific donations from two of our supporters. The children have been actively involved with this over recent weeks and it has been important to keep their wider environmental education going at this time.
The children are planning to plant around 1000 seedlings.
Fundraising News
Wing Walk, Sunday 26th July 2020
You may remember some aeroplanes in a couple of past newsletters advertising that our friend Jackie Hippey Jones was planning to do a Wing Walk to help fundraise for our Karuri charity. And, after years of cancellations because of bad weather conditions (Jackie being in Spain), aeroplane engine problems and the company going out of business, on Sunday 26th July with a new company, good weather promised and the aeroplane all fit to go, Jackie finally got into the air at Wickenby Aerodrome, Lincoln.
Jackie’s family and friends were all there to watch and Committee member Jill and husband John made the trek to Lincolnshire to witness and support the event. Jackie obviously enjoyed every minute of the experience and would happily have been strapped on top of the aeroplane again for another amazing trip.
We are so grateful to her for supporting our charity and we will be sending Wangari some photos so that the children can see such a brave lady.
