Supporting Sacred Heart School, Naivasha, Kenya dream for something better
A dream for something better, Wangari Cecilia
Easter Greetings
Wrapped up as we have been for the past year in our own Coronavirus issues, it has been difficult to get a feel for the impact of the pandemic across the world. This Easter’s message from Wangari gives a flavour of life in Kenya, which has recently been added to the list of countries where travel is prohibited.
Dispatch from Wangari
Dear Friends,
Happy Easter Alleluia Alleluia. I take the opportunity to wish you a happy Easter on behalf of our children that you support. We hope and pray that you are doing well through God’s Grace.
We are doing well and owe thanks to God for His care and Protection. But regarding Covid-19 things are getting worse in Kenya. We have a second lockdown. Hospitals are full and worse still the poor cannot afford hospital bills. The hospitals are over-charging and poor people can’t afford to pay. Poor people are dying in their homes, especially in cases where a patient is not able to breathe and requires oxygen. People are treating themselves from home using garlic, ginger, lemon, Vitamin C, methanol, even using eucalyptus tree leaves, boiling them and breathing in the vapour to help the breathing system.
We have locked ourselves in the school with the children and teachers. It’s worrying. My dear Friends, things in our country are quite different from your country, it might be difficult for you to comprehend.
So we thank you for your support, it is a Divine miracle that flows from your support. Receive our special gratitude from the depth of our hearts. Thank you for trusting me. You continue to touch lives who totally rely on God’s Mercy through each one of you. Thank you for the noble role you play each day…
When we opened the school 10 years ago, we planted a tree at the centre of the school. Now all kinds of birds have built so many nests in the tree and these birds sing beautiful songs each early morning, lunchtime and evening. These reflect the home and refuge you have built to our destitute and orphaned children.
Please accept our gratitude, we appreciate your support. Thank you.
God bless and protect each one of you.
10th Anniversary Celebrations
We make no apology for this edition being a celebration of 10 years of The Karuri School Project.
The impact of all your continued support and fundraising over the past decade can be seen in the magnificent school buildings, in the well- tended grounds, in the healthy livestock and most of all on the faces of the children.
Of course none of this would have happened without Wangari whose commitment and faith knows no bounds. The photos here illustrate the school’s day of celebration attended by the local bishop, who received the gift of a sheep as is the local custom!
These photos provide a vivid illustration of how your donations and support have achieved so much for one small corner of one country. We look forward to the next ten years at a time of great uncertainty and hope that all of our supporters will stay with us. Thank you.
