SUPPORTING SACRED HEART SCHOOL, NAIVASHA, KENYA DREAM FOR SOMETHING BETTER

A dream for something better, Wangari Ceclia

New WEbsite Live!

Thanks to the extensive work (pro bono) and not inconsiderable skill of our good friend Tom, we now have a new website where you can find all the latest news together with the history of the Project. Check it out on karurischoolproject.org and tell any of your friends who may be interested.

Visit to Kenya

As I write, intrepid Committee member Chrissie and husband Jonathan are visiting the Project (picture below). A full report of their trip will be in the next newsletter.

Major developments at the school

Education in Kenya is changing. A new curriculum for children in Junior High Schools has been introduced, requiring schools which take students in Years 7-9 to have more advanced technology resources.

Ministry of Education inspectors visited the Sacred Heart School back in 2019. They were impressed with the newly built dining hall and agreed the school had enough space to develop. They required, however that the school had: administration offices; a laboratory; computer room; and two more dormitories.

In April 2022, Wangari started building the new facilities. Using materials left over from the Dining Hall, the sale of 2 pregnant cows and 20 sheep, she has managed to meet the required standard.

Let Wangari take up the story…

“The officers of the Ministry came to see the progress of the junior high and have approved our school. Our dream is still moving, thank God. My dear friends, I have seen the Power of Faith in Divine Providence. I want to acknowledge how much you have made a difference to these orphans and destitute children. I have used everything to build the junior high. I don’t have a penny for next year’s maize and beans.”
