SUPPORTING SACRED HEART SCHOOL, NAIVASHA, KENYA DREAM FOR SOMETHING BETTER
A dream for something better, Wangari Ceclia
News from the School
After Wangari’s memorable visit to Northampton during the summer, she is now firmly back in harness at the school- now their springtime of course. The exam season is upon them and the children in Years 6 and 9 are busy preparing. For those in year 9, the scramble for senior school places begins in January 2026.
Both Wangari and her administrator Anne are now able to sleep in the new block where there is a toilet and shower!
This month we have been able to fund the annual purchase of 20 sacks of beans (£800) and we will no doubt be looking towards the annual purchase of firewood and maize. These are the staples which underpins all the school’s activities and Wangari has replied,
“Thank you dear friends for your generous support. These funds will go directly towards purchasing beans for the orphans and vulnerable children in our care-it means so much to all of us here”

Cooking Stoves
When she was here we talked to Wangari about upcoming demands and she explained that the school’s two wood-fired cookers, which are in use all day every day, are 15 years old and coming to the end of their natural lifespan. A picture of the replacements is below and the cost is likely to be several thousand pounds. If any one is able to support the Cooking Stoves Appeal, any donations would be gratefully received.

Frank’s Challenge
In the July newsletter, we mentioned that our supporter Frank Waweru raised over £1000 by successfully taking on the David Goggins challenge, which involved running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. To see how Frank achieved this, he has made a short documentary. To see this, click here to watch part one on YouTube. Well done Frank and his support team!

Charity Commission Annual Return
At the end of each financial year (ours ends 31st July) we have to submit an annual return to the Charity Commission and these are available on their website. Supporters may be interested to know that during the past year we raised a total of £19350 and sent £18850 to the school.
